C-CAT EXAM PREPARATION TIPS

HI,

Since you are reading this blog I assume that you are planning to write C-CAT exam and get into CDAC, so here are the basic information about the exam and tips to score a rank within 300.

First of all the exam is neither very simple nor very tough, since anyone can write the exam for both the dates available here is I am sharing my experience on both and then i will tell you guys how to prepare for it.

Exam consist of 3 sections and you will always find section A (Aptitude and English) very easy but time consuming, as it has only one hour and to make it difficult they will provide the values in decimal in the question so you need to be prepared for it, it will be good to practice all the Tables till 25.
I found out that in One paper they take questions of English and Logical reasoning from http://www.indiabix.com/   and in other paper Aptitude was from here, so it is clear that first paper is easy for those who know the basics and  had solved all the questions from Indiabix.

Now One important thing the link where you will give exam does not have any Cloak or Timer on it, so you will never know how much time is left and you need to be as quick as possible.

Now the experience of paper B I will rate the  paper 3 out of 5, the only reason students found it tough is because of the language based questions, I remember some of the questions like

1. Which of the following is true for Heap?
2. Which of the following is not true for Binary Tree?

you will find many questions of this type for DS. Also they may ask conditions for traversing or empty full of queue, stack,linked-list etc.,you may except many questions on binary tree,BFS,DFS,binary search, selection sorting, merge sort, etc. so prepare well for it.

C is simple if you know the basics specially associativity,Macros, pointers, array, strings. But basics is must, you can practice all the available questions on Indiabix for it.

For Networking, people who never take this subject in engineering seriously will found it difficult as because they will ask questions based on wireless technology, Ip configuration, OSI model, DOD model,IPv6,IPv4,etc.

For Operating system again questions from basic terminology is what they ask for, you should be good with basics to hit any question, you may found many new terminology which was not found easily in books.

OOP with C++ was easy and based mostly on Inheritance,polymorphism, exception-throw, STL,shallow copy-deep copy,virtual concepts,etc.

Now comes experience of writing paper C, It was was moderate I can say 2.5 out of 5.
Students who belong to electronics may find that so many questions asked belong to their syllabus of engineering, its rare that you may find any new terminology unlike in paper B.

You may find Microprocessor tough because many questions are asked from it, topics like i/o devices, interfacing, microprocessor architecture, logic operations, interrupt, and converters(D/A-A/D).

Digital Logic part was easy, simple theoretical questions on Flip-Flops,Clock,Registers,Logic Gates,K map,and conversion(BCD,Hexa,Octal).

Computer Architecture mainly questions asked are from Addressing modes, Machine Instruction,Memory Interfacing, cache memory, main memory, etc. I will suggest to go to NPTEL lectures of COA.

Now comes the main part of this Blog, that is from where and how to prepare for the exam
Okay!!!! so i am right now revealing some websites from where you can get the questions directly asked in exam without even modification.
But I will let you know the things in a proper sequence, and follow this to get the maximum marks.

First, If you are not planning to join any pre-dac course provided by many private C-DAC centre then you must buy Yashavant Kanetkar "Let Us C" and "Let Us C++" ready every chapter of these book and meanwhile solve the questions at the end of every chapter and go through Indiabix for every chapter questions.

For Aptitude and English and Logical Reasoning Indiabix is enough, once you have gone through every question of Indiabix now time to move on to http://www.lofoya.com/
I think if you will practice from these two sites, it will be sufficient.

For Networking go through first three chapters of Forouzan first and then follow the link:
www.logicguns.com/accounts/ref/?code=anPv

Its a referral link, go to it and create your own account and go through every question of Networking followed by DS and OS.

I found 100% questions of Networking from this website.

For Operating system also visit http://www.careerride.com/
And for DS study the concepts from Study tonight www.studytonight.com/
and practice from http://placementstudy.com/computer-science-engineering/92/data-structure/

For Section C , first study the concepts from NPTEL and solve the questions from Indiabix.

For every topic and every section first go through  the concepts and chapter and solve Indiabix at the end of chapter, If you will do this you have done 50% of your work for rest 50% practice from the site I have mentioned.

There is No guarantee that questions will be asked from these sites only, But this is what I have found
and these were the websites from where I did all the practice.

Remember the more you practice more you will get. Solve at-least 4000-5000 questions to get a rank within 300.

And remember be chill and avoid silly mistakes and you will hit the maximum.

Thanks
